1 . When is the best season to travel in Ethiopia?

Ethiopia is a year round destination however for rain sensitive travelers July  and August is the rainy season for the north but summer for the south.  However, the rainy season hardly affects the tours as it rains for a limited time and the rest of the day is often sunshine

2 . How flexible are Jacaranda’s Itinerary?

All our trips are flexible and can be designed based on the interest of the individual traveler. They can all be extended, minimized or redesigned in a way to suit your interest.

Yes, the one thing we need from you is to provide us information on your interest and a general info on how you would like your trip to be.

All our trips are open for small medium and big groups depending on tour availabilities

5 . Can I travel alone?

Ethiopia is one of the safe destinations for single travelers traveling either guided or alone. However, before traveling alone we recommend to consult any local tour operator on specific places to travel for  details on current situation.

6 . Do you have age restriction for any of your trips?

One must be at least 16 years old to travel independently. There are no upper age limits on our tours however we need a medical report for travelers above 72.  All Family tours are open for children and has no restrictions on the number of children in a trip.

7 . Do you offer trips for disabled people?

Yes, we do arrange special interest tours and we need clients requiring this service to contact us in advance with detailed information.

8 . What Kind of transportation do we use?

For all trips, we use private transportation with fully equipped Land cruisers, coaster buses and mini buses all air conditioned with the following general classification.

 

Transfers  for  small and medium size group -  Modern Mini buses

Transfers for big size groups -  Coaster buses with AC

For city Tours -  Mini Buses / Four Wheel drives / coaster buses/ private cars

For Surface tours out side Addis - Full option Land cruisers with AC.

9 . Are all the trips accompanied by a guide?

All trips to the north, east and west part of Ethiopia is accompanied with a guide either on the whole route or on each destinations.

Based on the client’s interest, trips to the south are accompanied either with a    guide or driver/guide in one. However all groups more than eight pax will be accompanied with a guide.

10 . How far in advance should I reserve a trip?

It’s advisable to book a trip three months before departure date but for special events and festivals, it’s necessary to book 5 months in advance. However depending on availability last minute booking is always possible.

11 . How much advance payment do I need?

Upon confirming the trip, 20% from the total amount is needed and twenty five days before departure the remaining amount should be settled.

12 . What is your trip cancellation Policy?

Cancellation made 30 days before departure will have no penalty and the confirmation fee will be fully refunded. Cancellation made 15 days before departure will have 50% penalty and a trip cancelled 7 days before departure will have no refunds. However, postponing dates are possible depending on availabilities.

13 . What range of hotels do you have?

The capital city, Addis Ababa has a wide range of hotels starting from Luxury Collection to budget tourist hotels. The historic sites have hotels ranging from 3/ 4 * to budget hotels providing all the basic facilities.  In the south we have three star hotels, lodges and camp sites providing all the basic facilities.

14 . How can I get entry Visa?

Travelers can apply for an entry visa at the nearest Ethiopian embassy however; many countries can obtain an entry visa upon arrival at Bole International Airport paying $20.

15 . Which vaccination is compulsory to travel in Ethiopia?

It's important that you receive the most accurate and up-to-date travel health information on Ethiopia before traveling. We recommend advising your physician or Travel Health clinic before traveling.

16 . Is travel insurance mandatory?

We do not require travel insurance, but we highly recommend it as it can help  for certain incidents like canceling trip , loss of baggage, need of medical attention or evacuation service and related travel inconveniencies.

17 . How can I Pay for my trip?

Currently we accept official bank transfer and will update the info when we restart our credit card service. Contact us for our bank details

Is tipping included in the price?

Tip is not included in all the quotes and it’s totally on travelers’ discretion.

18 . What kind of luggage will be appropriate for a trip?

It’s highly recommendable for all people to travel light as the domestic flights has a low baggage allowance. Two pieces of luggage per person not exceeding 20 Kgs are more than adequate

19 . What Kind of cloths should I pack?

 Informal dressing is recommended for travels in all parts of the country.  While traveling in the south we recommend clothing of casual nature preferably cotton and Khakis with neutral colors.

 

A warm sweater or jacket is also advisable for the cool evenings especially in the northern part and the mountains.

20 . Can you book my international flight?

We can assist you in booking your international flights for both electronic and paper tickets despite your departure destinations on a condition that the preferred carrier operates or has partners in Ethiopia
